South: the story of Shackleton's 1914-1917 expedition
Shackleton tells the story of his 1914-1917 expedition to Antarctica with the aim of crossing the continent. First relating the story of his own experience on the Endurance, and the subsequent escape in lifeboats to Elephant Island, and then describing the adventures of the Aurora and her crew, who were laying down supply depots from the far side of the continent.
Excellent, very exciting expedition, frostbite, icebergs, snow, ships trapped in the ice, dogged perseverance, and endless seals and penguins for dinner.
